Feasibility Checks for
Meeting Places

Support for feasibility studies prior to renovation and development of meeting places!

Through this support, it is possible to inventory development and renovation needs for meeting places in rural areas, such as community centers or other public gathering places.

We have the opportunity to prioritize about 12 applications during 2026 and 2027, and will strive for as good geographical distribution as possible within the leader area. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and important dates and deadlines are communicated here on this page and on our Facebook.

What can you apply for support for?

Support can be applied for expenses needed to investigate renovation needs and conditions. This may include:

  • Purchased services within expertise that the applying organization lacks, e.g., energy mapping, inspection, consulting in construction, electricity, etc.
  • Expenses for study visits
  • Meeting costs

Conditions for the support:

  • The goal of the initiative is to produce a feasibility report that describes development and renovation needs for a public gathering place in the leader area (Jokkmokk, Gällivare, Överkalix)
  • The project budget is a maximum of 40,000 SEK
  • The end date is no later than 2027-09-30
  • The project considers equal treatment, non-discrimination, and/or gender equality (no one is excluded on unreasonable grounds).
  • Applicants can demonstrate implementation capacity (personnel and financial resources), as well as a reasonably estimated budget.
  • The project falls within the framework of the local development strategy and benefits the leader area by the current location/building being owned or operated (lease agreement) by a non-commercial entity and is available for multiple users as a meeting place.
  • There is a concrete description of how the three dimensions of sustainability are considered, and the sub-activity includes an energy mapping of the location/building (alternatively, a justification for why an energy mapping will not be conducted within the sub-activity).
  • The project is innovative locally and the activities are outside the applying organization's regular operations.
  • The project is locally anchored and has a bottom-up perspective.
  • The project responds to identified needs and leads to new knowledge that can be put into practice:
    – The application clearly describes measures and activities that respond to an identified need/demand related to the upgrading or development of a meeting place, e.g., a community center or another gathering place.
    – The application includes a description of what new knowledge the feasibility study is expected to generate.
    – The application includes a description of how the results of the feasibility study can be implemented in practice, i.e., what happens to the results when the feasibility study is completed. In proposals for investments, the feasibility report should include an estimate of future maintenance requirements.

    Something else to think about!

    • You may not begin the project until you have received a decision on your application.
    • You cannot apply for support for regular operations or for activities that can be carried out even without the support.
    • You cannot apply for support as co-financing for a larger project.
    • The organization must be able to cover the costs until the project is completed; only a certain part of the support can be paid in advance.

    Important dates!

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and upcoming deadlines for decision meetings will be published here shortly!

    How do we proceed?

If you are unsure whether your idea can be implemented with this support, please contact Nina at the leader office first.

After that, you fill out an application form that you email to the leader office. If any supplements or clarifications are needed in the application, you will receive feedback on that.

When your application is complete (i.e., all questions in the application are answered and the application is signed), it will be queued for the decision group.

If you have any questions, please contact:
