More attractive Gällivare – Activities surrounding the 2023 World Cup
About the project
The city party of the ages is on offer when the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup returns to Gällivare again on December 2-3, 2023.
Vassaratorget in central Gällivare will be transformed into Arctic Plaza with activities for both young and old throughout the World Cup week, and Maxida Märak, one of the country's most unique and influential artists, will open the competition weekend with a concert on the outdoor stage!
Activities are happening throughout the week and down in Gällivare Centrum we make sure no one misses out on anything happening in town. There are hard rock nights, writers' meetings, songwriting workshops, ski coaching, music, food, shopping and a lively folk festival.
The whole thing will be rounded off with an award ceremony, closing ceremony and a concert with Movitz!
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is to create greater interest in Gällivare as a place for both local residents and and visitors. The project wants to help strengthen Gällivare's brand by showcasing a active society where people care about moving and feeling good.
The goal of the project is to market the place Gällivare and increase the number of visitors, by creating additional activities in connection with the World Cup competitions organized in the town.
