About the project
The construction and real estate sector currently accounts for a large part of Sweden's waste and the idea is based on the need to make better use of building materials that are currently discarded. The project will show how the reuse of building materials can contribute to more sustainable housing construction and social development by developing a concrete inspirational prototype and a meeting place for learning.
Together with the municipality, associations, businesses and citizens, the project will build a house on wheels from recycled materials. The construction will take place in an open and accessible location along with information about the process for visitors and passersby.
The target group is both residents with different housing needs and actors in construction, real estate and community planning. The ambition is for the project to contribute to new ways of working, increased knowledge and a more long-term sustainable view of construction waste as a resource.
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is to illustrate the benefits of circular construction and recycling of construction waste and thereby promote sustainable housing construction and community transformation.
The goal of the project is to
- in collaboration with the public, build an inspirational prototype of a house on wheels created using recycled materials
- create a knowledge-raising exhibition next to the house that shows the process and the results, as well as a guide for the public with tips and help
- carry out knowledge-raising and information-dissemination initiatives such as lectures, inauguration and final conference
- conduct an LCA analysis that accounts for the benefits of recycled construction
