Folk workshop in the North
About the project
The project is based on a pre-study that showed the need for common meeting places that offer activities on the theme of reuse and repair, focusing on promoting circular creation. Through open workshops, courses, and networking events, the project aims to create participation, increase knowledge about sustainable lifestyles, and make resources and expertise available locally.
The implementation is based on collaboration between ABF Norr, municipal actors, associations, and local businesses that together contribute resources to the project's activities. ABF Norr is the main organizer and is responsible for management and coordination, while local hub managers in each municipality run the operations close to the target group.
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is to strengthen local sustainability work and circular creation and to involve more people in the transition to a more climate-neutral lifestyle.
The goal of the project is to
- Establish 3 physical meeting places for creative reuse in Gällivare, Jokkmokk, and Överkalix
- Launch a mobile workshop unit for activities outside central locations
- Develop a method/model for how the Folkverkstan concept can be continued after the project is completed
