Pre-study Folk Workshop in the North

About the project

The feasibility study is being carried out in Gällivare, Jokkmokk and Överkalix and will map local resources and potential partners to create creative activities on the theme of recycling and repair.

The focus is on creating increased awareness of the benefits of circular economy and increased knowledge about sustainable material choices, as participants are given opportunities to transform old or broken objects into functional and aesthetic products.

In addition to the mapping, the project will arrange a practical workshop in each municipality where participants can try some form of creative recycling. The municipality is an obvious partner and in order to share resources and reach a broad audience, Folkverkstan also collaborates with businesses, libraries, craftsmen, artists, second-hand shops, student associations, after-school centers, associations and many others.

Purpose and goals

The purpose of the feasibility study is to strengthen the conditions for local sustainability work, circularity, reuse and creativity.

The goal of the project is to produce a feasibility study report that shows the needs and prerequisites for starting up Folkverkstan i Norr in the three municipalities of the Leader area: Gällivare, Jokkmokk and Överkalix.

The long-term ambition is to contribute to strengthened social engagement and knowledge exchange across generations, between people from different backgrounds and with different conditions.
