Gallivare Pride

About the project

The project works to create a more inclusive and safe society by making visible the lives and experiences of hbtqi+ individuals and increasing knowledge in the municipality. Over two years, two pride festivals will be held with parades, stage programs, and cultural elements that gather residents from the entire municipality. The project also includes ten target group-adapted lectures for, among others, youth, municipal employees, and the general public, with the aim of reducing discrimination and strengthening norm awareness. Volunteers are recruited and trained ahead of the festivals to ensure a safe implementation.

The activities take place in collaboration between Gällivare municipality, local associations, cultural activities, and civil society. Several actors, such as youth centers, libraries, ABF, and hbtqi+ organizations, have been involved in identifying needs and designing interventions. The collaboration contributes various competencies and enables a broad implementation of activities.
