We are looking for a new colleague for our team! In the autumn of -26, we will launch our project ”Roots visitors”, a cross-border collaboration project between four parties/Leader areas in northern Sweden and Finland: Leader Pohjoisin Lappi, Leader Oulujärvi, Leader Polaris, and Leader Tornedalen 2030.

The project aims to develop ancestry tourism as a new form of rural-based tourism by connecting genealogy, migration history, local storytelling tradition, cultural heritage, and local entrepreneurship. The goal is, among other things, to strengthen the visibility of small villages, create new tourist opportunities for local businesses and associations, and make the region's history and stories more accessible to people seeking their roots.

The project consists of five joint work packages (WP)

– WP1 builds the project's knowledge base around, among other things, ancestry tourism, research, migration, local history, and ethical issues
– WP2 makes the information digitally accessible
– WP3 mobilizes the villages and collects stories, local cultural heritage, and local resources
– WP4 helps local actors develop services and create economic value locally
– WP5 coordinates communication, networking, and dissemination of results

Each participating party has its own project manager who is part of the joint project team. Leader Polaris has special responsibility for WP2 and WP4.
