Överkalix pride
About the project
The project is carried out by Överkalix municipality and RFSL Luleå and northern Norrbotten County. Together with local actors and voluntary forces, the project aims to create a more inclusive society through knowledge enhancement, visibility of LGBTQI+ individuals, and by raising LGBTQI+ issues and starting conversations between people. The project will organize a Pride festival in the fall, a Pride parade in connection with the Överkalix market, and educational initiatives for professionals every year during the project's duration.
During the Pride festivals, both entertaining and knowledge-enhancing elements will be held, and there will be meeting places with LGBTQIA+ themes. By making LGBTQIA+ individuals visible and educating and entertaining people during Överkalix Pride, we believe that the perception of LGBTQIA+ individuals can change and lead to a more equal and multifaceted society where all people have the opportunity to live on equal terms.
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is to create a more inclusive society where everyone can be who they are and love whom they want. The project will show that LGBTQIA+ individuals exist throughout Norrbotten and that Överkalix is a municipality that is open to all.
The goal of the project is to carry out both entertaining and educational activities and events, such as Pride parades, Pride festivals, volunteer meetings, and special educational initiatives.
