Participate and influence development

Folk workshop in the North

The aim of the project is to strengthen local sustainability work and circular creation. The project builds on a feasibility study that showed the need for common meeting places where residents, associations, municipalities and local companies can collaborate on repair, learning and creativity. Through open workshops, courses, theme days and networking meetings, the project will create participation, increase knowledge about sustainable lifestyles and make resources and expertise available locally.

A place for life

The project will show how housing construction can be done in a more sustainable way. Together with the municipality, associations, businesses and citizens, the project will build a house on wheels from recycled materials. The construction will take place in an open and accessible location along with information about the process for visitors and passersby.

Collaborative site management

The project is a feasibility study that will develop sustainable models for collaboration around the management and development of common places in Gällivare, such as parks, trails, rest areas and public facilities.

Gallivare Pride

The project works to create a more inclusive and safe society by highlighting the lives and experiences of LGBTQ+ people and increasing knowledge in the municipality. Over the course of two years, two pride festivals are held with parades, stage programs and cultural events that bring together residents from across the municipality.

Jillat Live

The Jillat Live project works to establish a sustainable platform for regular cultural events in Vuollerim. Through eight events in music, theater and dance, local and Sami culture is strengthened while increasing access to culture for residents and visitors.

Art Between the Lines

The project aims to create more opportunities for people of all ages to express themselves creatively. Through workshops in photography, storytelling and art, participants develop their own works based on inspiring starting points such as pictures and books. The project also includes creative activities for children and young people in schools and after-school centers.

Social sustainability checks

Social sustainability checks mean that we can support organizations that want to make small efforts for equality, inclusion and well-being. The aim of the project is to create attractive living environments and strengthen the well-being of people in the area.

Pre-study checks

Within the Pre-study Checks project, Leader Polaris has the opportunity to provide support for smaller pre-studies of up to SEK 150,000. The aim is to enable faster processes for ideas that need to be investigated through pre-studies and increase the likelihood that any implementation projects will be completed during the program period.

Association checks 2.0

The project will, through sub-activities carried out by associations, create attractive living environments through targeted efforts.
for inclusive meeting places and development of the area's leisure and cultural experiences.

Talvati's MTB Arena design

The project will gather information to enable a larger initiative where the association creates an MTB arena for children and young people. The goal is to produce a feasibility study report that contains design proposals for cycle paths, estimated material and resource requirements for construction, and an overall maintenance plan for the paths.

Commercial and location development in Gällivare municipality

The project will create a more vibrant and attractive retail climate in Gällivare. The project will work closely with retailers, restaurants, property owners and the tourism industry to strengthen collaborations, develop new ways of working and create more activities that benefit retail.

Kvarnbäcken bathing area

The project will construct a new building for changing rooms and toilets at the Kvarnbäcken bathing area, to make it more accessible for both local residents and visitors. The project will conclude with an inauguration of the new building.

What is the Leader Method?

Locally led development

Locally led development through Leader means that those of you who have ideas about local development can put them forward, get involved and apply for money for projects. It is about developing your area based on local conditions. The idea is that local development is carried out most effectively by those who live and work in an area.
